Job summary

The City of Delray Beach seeks an experienced Assistant Human Resources Director to plan, organize, and direct HR activities. You will provide comprehensive policy development and act as acting director when needed, with significant discretion to advance department objectives.

Responsibilities include supervising staff, budgeting, policy implementation, and advising leadership on HR programs, labor relations, and employee relations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in HR, psychology, business or public administration.
• Minimum seven years supervising staff
• SHRM (SPHR/PHR) or FCLRP certification preferred
• Computer proficiency and knowledge of HR practices
• Knowledge of employment law, budgeting, and labor relations

Responsibilities

• Supervises the coordination of daily work activities; prioritizes and assigns work.
• Researches and develops policies and procedures to meet goals.
• Assists with strategic, fiscal and service improvement plans in HR.
• Assists with development and maintenance of annual department budget.
• Oversees training, employee engagement, performance management and records.
• Provides guidance to City Manager and directors on HR issues.
• Manages labor relations, contract administration and grievances.
• Directs classification and compensation plan administration.
