Riggs Washington DC sits on the iconic downtown corner of Penn Quarter's 9th and F Street in a historic building once home to Riggs National Bank. Each of the Hotel's 181 guest rooms offers a playful nod to the building's legacy. Riggs is home to the all-occasion European brasserie-inspired restaurant Café Riggs, as well as Silver Lyan - a subterranean bar from the internationally acclaimed Ryan Chetiyawardana, also known as Mr Lyan.
This position will work directly with the Executive Housekeeper and help lead a large and diverse staff of Room Attendants, House Persons and Public Space Attendants. The Riggs is a historical monument to a 130+ year legacy dating back to 1891. Ornate ceilings, brass and marble adorn this 181 room hotel with one of Washington's busiest restaurants and rooftop catering venues. Assist the Director of Housekeeping in daily operations of the Housekeeping Department, systems and SOP's. Coordinate the efficient running of the Housekeeping and Laundry/Valet departments on a daily basis. Ensure that all reports required by various offices in the hotel are submitted on a timely basis. Ensure that staff are scheduled based on rooming forecasts. Assist in the ordering of all supplies to ensure that par levels are maintained and that purchasing is in line with budget. Carry out inspections of rooms, public areas and back of house areas on a regular basis to ensure that high standards are always maintained. Ensure that linen is properly controlled and ensure that quality of linen laundry service is reviewed daily. Perform and oversee administrative duties such as scheduling, payroll, purchasing and inventory management reports. Participate in all regular and ad hoc operational meetings as required. Manage projects and any other reasonable duties as required by hotel management. Ensure that disciplinary procedures are undertaken fairly and in accordance to hotel policies. Ensure operations meet all internal and external audit requirements. Work closely with Chief Engineer to oversee maintenance of all rooms and public areas as required. Work constantly with the Engineering Management team to ensure that any out of order rooms are returned to inventory expediently.
