Job summary

Good Shepherd Services, Ltd in New York is seeking an Assistant Group Leader to support staff in after-school enrichment and recreational activities for youth.

Work up to 20 hours per week, non-exempt, with a schedule Monday–Friday, 2pm–6pm, September through June. Responsibilities include assisting with engaging activities, supervising participants, collecting attendance, distributing snacks, and helping maintain a safe, respectful environment in line with program rules.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Reliable and consistent work habits.
• Available during after-school hours listed above.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work in a dynamic team environment.

Responsibilities

• Assist the group leader with engaging activities, including sports, arts and crafts, and special events.
• Collect attendance folders and other data as necessary.
• Supervise participants throughout the after-school program.
• Distribute snacks and assist with clean-up.
• Help monitor and enforce program rules and the after-school model.
• Support activity instructors with lessons.
• Collaborate with the group leader to ensure a safe, supportive environment.
• Follow all GSS, DYCD and SACC regulations.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Major Duties:

• Assist the group leader with engaging activities, including sports and recreation, educational, arts and craft and special events
• Collect attendance folder and other data as necessary
• Supervise participants throughout afterschool program
• Distribute snacks and assist with clean-up
• Assist with monitoring and maintaining the rules of the program and upholding the afterschool model
• Support activity instructor(s) with lessons.
• Collaborate with group leader to ensure a safe and supportive environment.
• Follows all GSS, DYCD and SACC regulations.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
