Overview

Assistant Golf Professional

This position is responsible for promoting the game of golf and the club while providing the Three Steps of Service to the Members and guests of the club. Responsibilities include providing quality service, overseeing and assisting with the golf shop operations, and participating in revenue and programming efforts.

This position reports directly to the Director of Golf or Head Golf Pro and indirectly to the General Manager. The Golf Pro supervises outside service personnel, Starters, and Marshalls as directed.

Experience Required

1 Year in Golf Shop Required - PGA Apprentice Preferred

Essential Responsibilities

Day to Day:

1. Provide efficient and friendly customer service, including checking in golfers, ringing up charges, and proper check-in procedures. Handle cash according to standards.
2. Maintain control of the tee sheet, manage walkups and pairings, and collect all fees.
3. Respond to inquiries, make tee-times, and communicate with Members and guests professionally and courteously.
4. Organize and promote Club Tournaments and special events.
5. Provide instruction for Members/Guests per Invited and PGA Standards.
6. Oversee all outside golf operations and staff, ensuring proper performance and adherence to procedures.
7. Promote golf and the club, maintaining professionalism.
8. Develop relationships with Members and guests through participation and events.
9. Manage inventory, merchandise, and special orders, ensuring stock levels and proper procedures.
10. Handle merchandise returns and credits.
11. Perform close of business functions as per guidelines.
12. Complete daily assignments to meet club standards.
13. Assist team members, Members, and guests proactively, supporting the Three Steps of Service.
14. Report and resolve Member/Guest complaints promptly.
15. Support financial responsibilities and administrative tasks with the Director of Golf or Head Golf Pro.

Additional duties include:

1. Perform other tasks as needed, assisting colleagues and fulfilling various functions.
2. Follow all policies, procedures, and instructions.
3. Communicate effectively and work well under pressure.
4. Maintain attention to detail and safe work habits.
5. Attend daily line-up and wear a proper uniform.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
• Customer service experience and basic golf knowledge.
• Active participation in the PGA Apprentice Program; PGA Certification preferred.
