Royal Oaks Country Club in Houston, TX seeks two Assistant Golf Professionals to join the golf operation. You will contribute to daily shop operations, member engagement, tournaments, and player development while working with a dedicated team.

The position offers growth within the PGA pathway, merchandising responsibilities, and the chance to provide a first-class member experience in a renovated facility. Training and development are emphasized.

Qualifications

• High School diploma required.
• Enrolled in the PGA program or desire to enroll.
• Ambition to advance within the golf industry.
• Solid knowledge of golf operations, rules, handicap, course rating, and swing mechanics.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Overview

The world of golf at Royal Oaks Country Club began in 2000, when former World Number One and Masters Champion Fred Couples broke ground with Brian Curley to design and create the Fred Couples Signature Golf Course.

The new chapter began in November 2025 with a 15-million-dollar wall to wall renovation featuring Beau Welling Design( https://www.beauwellingdesign.com/ ). The golf course will reopen November of 2026.

We are looking for two Assistant Professionals to round out our professional staff and become an integral part of our golf operation.

The ideal candidates will be excited to learn, eager to improve, and passionate about providing an exceptional experience for our membership. This is an opportunity for professionals who want to grow their skills, gain experience across all areas of golf operations, and become an important part of a team dedicated to delivering a first-class member experience.

This position will work directly across all areas of our golf operation, including daily golf shop operations, member engagement, tournaments and events, player development, merchandising, outside operations, and course-related activities. The Assistant Professionals will play a vital role in the success of our operation each day while working closely with our membership and professional staff.

Experience Required

• High School Graduate (required)
• Enrolled in the PGA program or has the desire to be enrolled.
• Ambition to move up within the golf industry
• Basic knowledge of daily golf course operations, USGA rules, handicap, course rating system, mechanics and techniques of golf swing, and general game of golf
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
• Must be detail oriented and able to manage competing priorities and multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment

Essential Responsibilities

• Provide the highest level of service to Royal Oaks Country Club members and their guests.
• Work effectively as part of a team-oriented professional staff and contribute to the success of the overall golf operation.
• Assist the management team in elevating and improving Outside Operations, creating a seamless experience from arrival through departure.
• Assist with inventory management and control, including receiving, organization, tracking, and maintaining accurate inventory levels.
• Develop a strong knowledge of golf merchandise, equipment, and apparel while continuing to develop effective selling and customer-service skills.
• Demonstrate a willingness to learn, accept direction, take initiative, and continually develop professionally.
• Build relationships with the membership by practicing and playing golf with members and their guests from a variety of groups and skill levels.
• Be actively engaged with the membership and look for opportunities to anticipate needs, create memorable experiences, and exceed expectations.
• Support tournaments, events, and daily golf activities while maintaining a high level of organization and attention to detail.
• Represent Royal Oaks Country Club and the golf professional staff with professionalism, enthusiasm, and a positive attitude.
