Job summary

Marana Unified School District is seeking a high school assistant coach to support the head coach in planning, evaluating, and implementing athletic programs under AIA and NFHS guidelines. The role emphasizes leadership, integrity, responsibility, and a healthy lifestyle for student-athletes.

The assistant coach will manage equipment inventories, coordinate with administrators and vendors, organize tryouts and practice/game plans, and ensure safety and sportsmanship at all times.

Qualifications

• Coaching experience in the assigned high school sport.
• Strong communication with students and parents.
• Ability to maintain student safety and discipline.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates dependability, organization, respect, integrity, and sportsmanship.
• Utilizes positive interpersonal relations and effective communication.
• Exhibits problem solving skills.
• Maintains inventory of athletic equipment and supplies.
• Procures needed equipment and supplies with administrators and vendors.
• Communicates expectations to team members and families at season start.
• Organizes tryouts, practice plans, and game plans; coordinates additional coaching staff.
• Assesses playing surfaces for safety.
• Adheres to district and school procedures.
• Applies sport knowledge to develop players of all abilities.
• Sets high behavioral and academic expectations for athletes.
• Promotes sportsmanship during all activities.
• Expands knowledge of sport and player development.
• Partners with parent groups to enhance players' experience.
• Follows procurement and fundraising rules.
• Supports skill development year-round.
• Positively represents the team in the community.
• Respects officials; head coach governs bench by rule.
• Provides health services and maintains a safe environment; administers basic first aid and CPR when needed.
• Encourages scholastic achievement among athletes.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
