Job description

Responsibilities
  • Embodies a positive company image by providing courteous, friendly, and efficient service to customers and team members.
  • Leads and coaches the team to impress customers with a high‑quality experience and sells flights, glasses, food pairings and retail wine.
  • Builds an engaged workforce by promoting career development, mentoring employees, setting clear performance goals, and driving associate engagement.
  • Ensures guest service excellence: investigates complaints, resolves them within 24 hours, upsells wines, and maintains restaurant image and cleanliness.
  • Maintains operational standards: HACCP compliance, sanitary practices, closing procedures, menu management, and collateral materials.
  • Drives profitability: analyzes financial data, maintains food cost %, manages inventory, and ensures labor and payroll goals.
  • Identifies and implements opportunities for innovation, adapts to fast‑changing circumstances, and uses problem‑solving skills.
  • Facilitates effective communication: models leadership, opens channels for feedback, and coaches the team.
Qualifications
  • Five or more years experience as a General Manager, Assistant General Manager, or Floor Manager in a full‑service restaurant, wine bar, winery tasting room, or F&B Manager at a hotel.
  • Strong foundation in wine fundamentals; two or more years in the wine industry preferred.
  • Four‑year college degree preferred, two years of college education required.
  • Strong leadership skills with ability to mentor and develop talent.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Detail‑oriented, highly responsible, and reliable.
  • Knowledge of wines, with ability to taste, evaluate, purchase, and sell wines.
  • Proficient with retail POS systems and Microsoft Office.
  • Age 21 or older, capable of tasting product.
  • Successful completion of TSA screening and background check.
  • Ability to lift and carry a standard case of wine.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Ability to manage a team, scout for employee candidates, conduct interviews, spot talent, hire, coach, and evaluate staff.
  • Experience with vendor relationships at a local level and knowledge of wine distribution.
  • Basic understanding of restaurant economics, ability to read a P&L, and manage costs.
  • Ability to train staff individually or in groups; facilitate onboarding.
  • Proficiency with retail point‑of‑sale systems and Microsoft Office suite.
  • Strong communication skills in English, both oral and written.
  • Capability to lead through coaching and progressive discipline.
  • Capacity to sustain performance under stress and tight deadlines.
