Applegreen USA Welcome Centers seeks an Assistant General Manager to support daily operations across more than 80 travel plazas in the Northeast and Midwest. This role offers hands-on management experience, coaching, and the chance to learn essential judgment and discretion in a fast-paced retail environment.

The position emphasizes leadership, guest service excellence, and adherence to brand standards while ensuring smooth cash handling, inventory checks, and collaboration with store teams.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience in quick-service restaurant or similar management operations.
• Ability to lift or push objects weighing over 30 lbs.
• Flexible and open work schedule.
• Strong leadership and management skills.
• Excellent customer service skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist the General Manager in day-to-day operations.
• Deliver performance feedback, set goals, foster teamwork, and communicate business objectives.
• Supervise non-management associates, assign work, coach, and develop shift supervisors.
• Motivate and positively influence staff, especially during low morale.
• Demonstrate strong leadership and organizational skills.
• Address issues in a timely fashion.
• Maintain brand standards and procedures to maximize brand, landlord, and labor relations.
• Maintain the restaurant’s cleanliness, appearance, and brand standards.
• Accurately manage cash and process daily reports as directed.
• Address customer needs, resolve issues, and build positive relationships.
• Ensure inventory data is accurate through spot counts and checks.

What You’ll Do

The Assistant General Manager helps the General Manager to ensure day‑to‑day business operations run smoothly. This position provides an opportunity for entry‑level managers to learn important management skills and practice judgment and discretion.

Role Priorities And Responsibilities

• Confidently deliver performance feedback, set goals, foster teamwork, and communicate business objectives.
• Supervise non‑management associates, assign work, focus on store performance, coach, and develop shift supervisors.
• Competently perform duties in the absence of the General Manager.
• Motivate and positively influence staff, especially during low morale.
• Demonstrate strong leadership and organizational skills.
• Address issues in a timely fashion.
• Ensure company policies and procedures are followed.
• Maintain awareness of all applicable brand standards and procedures to maximize brand, landlord, and labor relations.
• Maintain the restaurant’s cleanliness, appearance, and brand standards.
• Accurately manage cash and process daily reports as directed.
• Address customer needs, resolve issues, and build positive, long‑term relationships.
• Ensure inventory data is accurate through spot counts and checks.
