Applegreen in New Jersey seeks an Assistant General Manager to help oversee daily operations at our Welcome Center locations. You will support the General Manager, supervise staff, and ensure excellent guest experiences across food and retail services.

The role emphasizes leadership, teamwork, and adherence to brand standards, with opportunities to grow managerial skills in a fast-paced travel plaza setting.

Qualifications

• 2+ years experience in quick service restaurant or similar management operations.
• Strong leadership and management skills with proven ability to motivate and inspire a team.
• Excellent customer service abilities and positive attitude.
• Excellent verbal and communication skills with a sharp business acumen.
• Basic food safety understanding and practice.
• Ability and willingness to lift/push objects weighing over 30 Lbs.
• Flexible and open work schedule.
• Passionate about helping people learn and grow the business.

Responsibilities

• The Assistant General Manager helps the General Manager to ensure that day-to-day business operations run smoothly.
• Deliver performance feedback, set goals, foster teamwork, and clearly communicate business objectives.
• Supervise non-management associates, assign work, coach and develop shift supervisors and ensure shop floor performance.
• Step in for the general manager when needed and maintain leadership during absence.
• Motivate staff, especially during times of low morale and maintain brand standards.
• Ensure policies and procedures are followed and cash management is accurate.
• Address customer needs and resolve issues to build positive, long-term relationships.
• Perform spot inventory checks to ensure inventory data accuracy.
