Job summary

Goldfish Swim School is seeking an Assistant General Manager to oversee daily operations, staffing, pool operations, cash handling, customer service, retail and private party activities. Education requirements include a high school diploma or GED (Bachelor’s degree preferred); two or more years of management experience and two or more years as a swimming instructor are preferred.

Lifeguard/CPR certifications are required.

Responsibilities

• Directs and controls daily operations to ensure the school runs according to SOPs.
• Assists General Manager and department managers with daily tasks.
• Manages staff to ensure high productivity and positive employee satisfaction.
• Trains and oversees aquatics department for high-quality swim instruction.
• Oversees retail and vending departments and pricing integrity.
• Trains and supervises private party staff to maintain GSS standards.
• Gains knowledge of the Links software for bookings, scheduling, and reporting.
• Ensures a safe and sanitary swim environment per GSS policies.
• Leads employee engagement activities to boost morale and teamwork.
• Implements Emergency Action Plan and safety procedures; trains staff accordingly.

Summary:

Oversees the quality and success of Goldfish Swim School daily operations including staffing, pool operations, cash management, customer service, retail and vending department, private party operations and workplace employee activities.

Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Directs and controls the daily operations to ensure the school is running according to GSS standard operating procedures.
2. Assists General Manager and department managers with fulfillment the daily tasks.
3. Manages the staff of GSS to ensure high productivity, excellent performance and positive employee satisfaction.
4. Trains and oversees aquatics department to provide superior swim instruction to the students of GSS. Interacts with Deck Supervisors and Golden Teachers on issues related to class scheduling, student progress, customer service and employee performance and training.
5. Provides sales and marketing training to all qualified sales staff.
6. Provides direction in the retail and vending departments to ensure a proper mix of products and pricing is achieved.
7. Trains and oversees private party staff to ensure that the GSS standard operating procedures are being maintained.
8. Gains knowledge and experience in the Links software to achieve a high level of competence in bookings, class scheduling, reporting and administrative functions.
9. Gains a high level of knowledge and experience in the GSS pool operations necessary to maintain a safe and sanitary swim environment.
10. Initiates and oversees workplace employee activities ("Fun" Department) with the goal of achieving improved employee satisfaction.
11. Directs and oversees the implementation of the Emergency Action Plan and all safety procedures that pertain to the GSS facility and trains all current staff on the GSS EAP.
12. Maintains current certifications and stays up-to-date professionally on the aquatics and management field.
13. Fulfills other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Employer.

Education/Experience

High school diploma or GED is required. Bachelor’s degree or higher preferred. Experience as a certified lifeguard, youth sports instructor/coach, camp counselor and/or childcare provider required. Two or more years management experience preferred. Two or more years as a swimming instructor preferred.

Certificates and Licenses:

Lifeguard, CPR/AED and first Aid certification required. Shallow water attendant highly recommended.

While performing this job, the employee is regularly exposed to heat and humidity. Noise level is usually moderate.
