Job summary

Goldfish Swim School in Ladera Ranch, CA seeks an Assistant General Manager to oversee daily operations including staffing, pool operations, cash management, customer service, retail and party operations. You will work with the General Manager to train staff, schedule classes, manage guest experience, and uphold safety standards.

A background in aquatics and leadership is preferred; growth opportunities are offered.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; bachelor’s preferred.
• Two+ years of management experience preferred.
• Two+ years as a swimming instructor preferred.
• Lifeguard, CPR/AED and First Aid certifications required.

Responsibilities

• Directs and controls daily operations to ensure GSS SOPs are followed.
• Assists General Manager and department managers with daily tasks.
• Manages staff to ensure high productivity and employee satisfaction.
• Trains aquatics department to provide quality swim instruction and coordinates with Deck Supervisors on class scheduling.
• Provides sales and marketing training to qualified staff.
• Oversees retail and vending departments for proper product mix and pricing.
• Trains and oversees private party staff to maintain GSS standards.
• Gains knowledge of the Links software for bookings, scheduling, and reporting.
• Ensures pool operations are safe and sanitary; maintains required certifications.
• Leads employee engagement activities to boost morale.
• Implements and trains on the Emergency Action Plan and safety procedures.
• Fulfills other duties as assigned.

Job Title: Assistant General Manager

Reports to: General Manager

Summary

Oversees the quality and success of Goldfish Swim School daily operations including staffing, pool operations, cash management, customer service, retail and vending department, private party operations and workplace employee activities.

Duties and Responsibilities

1. Directs and controls the daily operations to ensure the school is running according to GSS standard operating procedures.
2. Assists General Manager and department managers with fulfillment the daily tasks.
3. Manages the staff of GSS to ensure high productivity, excellent performance and positive employee satisfaction.
4. Trains and oversees aquatics department to provide superior swim instruction to the students of GSS. Interacts with Deck Supervisors and Golden Teachers on issues related to class scheduling, student progress, customer service and employee performance and training.
5. Provides sales and marketing training to all qualified sales staff.
6. Provides direction in the retail and vending departments to ensure a proper mix of products and pricing is achieved.
7. Trains and oversees private party staff to ensure that the GSS standard operating procedures are being maintained.
8. Gains knowledge and experience in the Links software to achieve a high level of competence in bookings, class scheduling, reporting and administrative functions.
9. Gains a high level of knowledge and experience in the GSS pool operations necessary to maintain a safe and sanitary swim environment.
10. Initiates and oversees workplace employee activities ("Fun" Department) with the goal of achieving improved employee satisfaction.
11. Directs and oversees the implementation of the Emergency Action Plan and all safety procedures that pertain to the GSS facility and trains all current staff on the GSS EAP.
12. Maintains current certifications and stays up-to-date professionally on the aquatics and management field.
13. Fulfills other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Employer.

Education / Experience

High school diploma or GED is required. Bachelor’s degree or higher preferred. Experience as a certified lifeguard, youth sports instructor/coach, camp counselor and/or childcare provider required. Two or more years management experience preferred. Two or more years as a swimming instructor preferred.

Certificates and Licenses

Lifeguard, CPR/AED and first Aid certification required. Shallow water attendant highly recommended.
