Job summary

Lettuce is seeking an Assistant General Manager in Chicago to lead daily restaurant operations and guest experiences. The role requires strong leadership, HR support, and financial oversight to drive performance.

You will train and supervise hourly and management teams, manage costs, and ensure high standards across service, food quality, and safety. This position offers growth opportunities within a culinary-focused company.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of restaurant management experience.
• 2+ years of AGM experience in a full-service restaurant.
• Skilled in leading and developing teams.
• Experienced with inventory and BOH systems.
• Comfortable working late nights; restaurant closes at 2:00 AM on weekends.

Responsibilities

• Ensure day-to-day business operations run smoothly.
• Assist with training, recruiting, HR and administrative duties; assist financials / statement preparation; and assist the GM with customer service inquiries.
• Organize, run and supervise smooth and efficient daily opening and closing shifts, ensuring an exceptional guest and employee experience.
• Provide guidance and leadership to hourly and management teams while fostering our Culture of Caring.
• Respond immediately and effectively to guest and employee needs and feedback.
• Assist GM in managing costs, driving sales and growing the business in support of financial goals.
• Interview, hire, onboard, train, supervise and develop all BOH employees and teams as needed.
• Perform regular inventories of food, beverage and restaurant supplies and track high cost items; place orders; inspect deliveries.
• Model and promote teamwork across all teams.
• Use tact and good judgment with guests, vendors and employees.

Responsibilities

• Perform regular and ad hoc inventories of food, beverage and restaurant supplies and track high cost items; place food, beverage and restaurant supply orders; and accept and inspect deliveries


• Model and promote teamwork across all teams


• Use tact and good judgment when dealing with challenges pertaining to guests, vendors and employees, and respond with patience and courtesy


• Work a variety of days and shifts (including early mornings, late nights and weekends) at multiple sites with or without overnight travel, as needed


• Move and lift up to 10 pounds, frequently move and/or lift up to 25 pounds, occasionally move and/or lift up to 50 pounds

Qualifications

• 5+ years of restaurant management experience


• 2+ years of AGM experience in a full-service restaurant


• Skilled in leading and developing teams


• Experienced with inventory and BOH systems


• Must be comfortable working late nights; restaurant closes at 2:00 AM on weekends

Salary Range

USD $70,000.00 - USD $90,000.00 /Yr.
