The North Carolina State Highway Patrol seeks two Assistant Attorney General Counsels to join the Office of the General Counsel. These roles provide legal counsel, advise on liability prevention, and manage risk for the department.

Responsibilities include evaluating personnel matters, handling records requests, drafting opinions, reviewing contracts, and delivering training curricula to NCSHP members. Strong knowledge of statutory and regulatory law is essential.

• Knowledge of statutory, case law and regulatory law affecting agency operations.
• Ability to interpret laws, statutes, regulations and court decisions.
• Ability to analyze problems and render sound legal advice.

• Assist in evaluating personnel and workers' compensation matters and coordinate with staff and Attorney General's Office Attorneys.
• Assist with evaluating and responding to records requests; ensure statutory compliance.
• Responsible for policy review, drafting legal opinions, and timely legal research.
• Work with Procurement to review contract issues as needed.
• Assist in providing and overseeing training and advice on constitutional and statutory law for NCSHP.
