Job summary

The Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles is seeking an Assistant General Counsel in Miami Beach to serve as a Troop Legal Advisor and provide legal advice and training to Florida Highway Patrol members.

The ideal candidate will have criminal litigation experience and an active membership with The Florida Bar. Responsibilities include prosecuting traffic hearings and monitoring claims litigation.

Qualifications

• At least 2 years of experience as an Assistant State Attorney or Public Defender.
• Supervisory experience of other attorneys.
• Experience creating and delivering legal training.
• Prior law enforcement experience.

Responsibilities

• Provide legal advice and training to FHP members.
• Prosecute traffic infraction hearings and civil asset forfeitures.
• Monitor claims litigation and other administrative hearings.
• Review warrants for probable cause and facilitate evidence destruction.
