State of North Carolina - Adult Correction is seeking an Assistant General Counsel I (NS) to provide comprehensive legal support to the department, including drafting and reviewing contracts, policies, and discovery responses, and delivering training to staff. Qualifications

Licensed to practice law in North Carolina with a JD and NC State Bar admission.
Minimum 2 years of progressively responsible professional legal experience.
Knowledge of state and federal statutes, regulations, case law, and legal research methodologies.
Experience drafting and reviewing contracts, policies, procedures, legislation, and discovery responses.

Responsibilities

Draft and review contracts, policies, administrative rules, legislation, and discovery responses.
Provide legal advice to department leadership and staff.
Deliver legal training to law enforcement and corrections staff.
Coordinate records production, including for the North Carolina Innocence Inquiry Commission.
Handle sensitive assignments and assist with litigation, mediations, arbitrations, and court matters.
