Job summary
Adult Correction, through its General Counsel, seeks an experienced Assistant Agency General Counsel I to provide comprehensive legal support, draft and review contracts, policies, and regulations, and advise leadership. The role involves litigation support, training, and regulatory coordination within the Division of Institutions.
The position requires a Juris Doctor and NC bar admission, with at least two years of professional legal experience, and may require extended hours during peak
Qualifications
- Licensed to practice law by the NC State Bar.
- JD degree required.
- At least two years of progressively responsible professional legal experience.
- Knowledge of state and federal statutes, regulations, and case law.
- Ability to draft, review contracts, policies, legislation, and other legal documents.
Responsibilities
- Provide legal advice to DAC leadership and staff.
- Draft and review contracts, policies, administrative rules, legislation, and discovery responses.
- Perform legal research on federal and state laws and regulations.
- Develop and deliver legal training to law enforcement and corrections staff.
- Serve as the administrative rules coordinator for the Division of Institutions.
- Occasional in-state travel may be required.
