Job summary

NewEdge Capital Group is seeking an Assistant General Counsel to serve as the right hand to the General Counsel, focusing on litigation, arbitration, and regulatory-exam matters. You will manage a busy caseload and coordinate with outside counsel, insurance brokers, and carriers, with occasional travel.

The ideal candidate has a strong background in financial services, PA bar preferred, and the ability to own matters end to end.

Qualifications

• J.D. from an accredited law school and active bar membership (PA preferred).
• 5+ years of litigation experience (firm and in-house welcome).
• Financial services or regulated industry background preferred.
• Ability to own a full caseload with limited oversight.
• Experience handling subpoenas and third-party discovery.
• Strong legal writing and risk communication skills.
• Organized self-starter able to manage multiple matters.
• Willingness to travel occasionally with advance notice.

Responsibilities

• Manage NECG’s caseload of litigation, arbitrations, and mediations from intake through resolution.
• Handle pre-litigation disputes to drive efficient resolution.
• Review pleadings, briefs, motions, and discovery with outside counsel.
• Prepare witnesses and coordinate case logistics for hearings and arbitrations.
• Evaluate and manage litigation reserves with finance and insurance partners.
• Regulatory Exams & Inquiries: lead legal contact for regulatory examinations and prepare responses.
• Partner with Compliance to coordinate document production and witness prep.
• Track exam findings and remediation with stakeholders.
• Stay current on laws and advise Compliance and business.
• Act as GC’s right hand, supervise in-house and outside counsel.
• Advise on litigation exposure and regulatory risk for new products.
• Help build internal processes for litigation management and subpoena coordination.
• Support broader legal needs as they arise (transactions, contracts, employment).
