Job summary

CBRE Group, Inc. in Hartford seeks an Assistant Fund Accounting Controller to join the Investment Accounting & Reporting Solutions group. The role focuses on financial accounting, reporting, and analysis of fund operations for a portfolio of clients.

You will prepare NAV calculations, input daily trading and GL activity, produce fund statements, and support audits. The position also involves workload planning, coaching junior staff, and driving process improvements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree and 5+ years of relevant experience required.
• Experience with fund (NAV) accounting required; real estate exposure preferred.
• Experience with Yardi accounting software.
• Knowledge of GAAP and FASB regulations including financial terms and principles.
• Technical financial skills and knowledge of GAAP/IFRS as applicable.
• Ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced, client-focused environment.
• Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook).
• Excellent communication skills and ability to partner with clients and cross-functional teams.
• Strong quantitative skills and ability to perform complex financial calculations.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, analyze, and review periodic NAV calculations.
• Input daily trading, general ledger activity, and pricing of funds to ensure NAV accuracy.
• Produce fund financial statements and related investor information.
• Review monthly property level reports in detail.
• Assist treasury and accounting functions; post journal entries and money movements.
• Prepare investment and position reconciliations and daily cash reconciliations.
• Prepare investor capital call and distribution notices.
• Troubleshoot issues to ensure timely, accurate responses for internal/external requests.
• Coordinate work within SPOC guidelines; coach junior staff informally.
• Support internal/external audits with required documentation.
• Ensure adherence to IA&R standards, SOX (if applicable), and client policies.
• Oversee workload planning, review work product, and train team for high performance.
• Foster continuous improvement, process standardization, and efficiency.
• Drive improvements in accounting procedures, reporting automation, and workflows.
• Support onboarding of new clients and transition of new scopes.
