Sunbelt Rentals is seeking an Assistant Foreman to join our team in San Leandro, CA. You will support field projects by coordinating with project leadership, ensuring safety compliance, and guiding equipment mobilization and decommissioning across pumping, power generation, HVAC, and utility systems.

This role requires a high school diploma (technical certifications a plus), mechanical and electrical knowledge, and strong problem‑solving and communication skills.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is typically required; additional technical certifications or education in mechanics or engineering is a plus
• Prior experience in a mechanical, maintenance or related role with bypass pumping, generators, power distribution, A/C and heat and water restoration or construction equipment
• Strong understanding of mechanical systems, hydraulics, and electrical/electronic interfaces
• Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, blueprints and schematics
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills to troubleshoot complex issues
• Excellent verbal and written skills to interact effectively with customers, team members and internal resources

Responsibilities

• Directly assist and lead the setup and tear down of equipment for various operational systems, including pumping, power generation, distribution, HVAC, energy and temporary utility systems
• Actively participate in the rapid deployment and management of resources for disaster restoration and emergency response efforts
• Promote and maintain a safe work environment by ensuring strict adherence to all company safety policies, procedures, and best practices
• Identify potential hazards and implement necessary controls to guarantee safe project execution
• Collaborate with Project Leads and management to monitor project timelines and resource allocation
• Ensure projects are completed on time and that all deployed equipment runs efficiently to guarantee client satisfaction
