Job summary

ReNEW Schools seeks an Assistant Football Coach to design and implement program activities per sport rules, supervise student-athletes, and model positive behavior during participation, travel, and practices. The role reports to the Head Coach and requires evenings and weekend work, with CPR/First Aid certification preferred.

The position is stipend-paid, with no benefits, and requires a high school diploma or equivalent and job-related experience.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Basic math (fractions, percents, ratios).
• Read technical information; compose documents; facilitate group discussions; analyze situations; knowledge of equipment, injury prevention, laws, regulations, eligibility guidelines, public relations protocols, professional standards, safety practices.

Responsibilities

• Analyze opposition strategies before or during athletic events to develop game plans.
• Assess student athletes to provide performance feedback and determine team placement.
• Attend meetings, workshops, and conferences to receive and convey information related to the role.
• Develop game strategies and plans as requested by the Head Coach to prepare the team and individual athletes.
• Evaluate the facility and playing field for hazards or inadequate equipment and recommends modifications to reduce injury risk.
• Instruct student‑athletes to promote individual growth in athletic skills, teamwork, and sportsmanship.
• Maintains records (e.g., game statistics, insurance, permission forms, emergency information, schedules, equipment inventories) to comply with district, conference, and state requirements.
• Monitors student athletes’ academic eligibility and provides counseling or tutoring to maintain eligibility.
• Promotes athletic programs to increase interest and participation and responds to inquiries from students, parents, staff, media, and college representatives.
• Supervises student‑athletes during all participation areas to ensure a safe environment.
• Performs related duties as assigned to ensure efficient functioning of the unit.
• Supports other athletic staff members, volunteers, and coaches in their roles and responsibilities.
