Job summary

ReNEW Schools in Indiana seeks a high school head coach to lead the athletic program and coach student athletes. You will supervise a coaching staff, coordinate with the athletic director and principals, and model sportsmanship and character through daily instruction.

You will upgrade knowledge via clinics and observations and ensure compliance with district and league policies while promoting the program to the school community.

Qualifications

• Has the ability to organize and supervise a total sports program.
• Has previous successful coaching experience in assigned sport.
• The head coach must have substantial knowledge of the technical aspects of the sport.
• The head coach must serve as a role model for student athletes through his/her instructions and actions.

Responsibilities

• Align athletic policies with the Lakeland School Corporation's Board of Education and implement across staff.
• Understand system, state and league regulations; interpret and apply them for staff.
• Follow proper command lines; communicate through proper channels for requests and grievances.
• Establish fundamental philosophy and design conferences and clinics for staff.
• Train staff, encourage professional growth, and supervise duties to improve staff effectiveness.
• Maintain discipline, resolve grievances, and foster morale and cooperation.
• Assist athletic director with scheduling, transport, and tournament logistics.
• Ensure documentation for state requirements on exams, parental consent, and eligibility.
• Mentor athletes to develop character traits and monitor grades and conduct.
• Provide guidance for injuries, medical attention, and emergencies.
• Manage equipment, inventory, and proper safeguarding of facilities.
