Summary

The Food Service Assistant Manager is primarily responsible for guest relations and satisfaction. He/She supports the Department Manager in duties such as ordering, merchandising, maintaining department conditions, and training clerks. He/She assists in leading the department's efficient, effective, safe, legal, and profitable operations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Greet and engage guests upon entering the department
  • Assist with interviewing, training, scheduling, and performance of team members
  • Communicate information effectively within the department
  • Maintain a positive atmosphere and morale
  • Demonstrate leadership through time management and delegation
  • Support division concepts and programs
  • Help meet financial goals
  • Ensure product quality and availability for guests
  • Safeguard and monitor department assets, enforcing policies
  • Practice safety, cleanliness, and organization
  • Utilize department systems and processes correctly
  • Collaborate on production and promotion planning
  • Assist in coaching and developing team members
  • Maintain updated manuals and inventory reports
  • Manage department issues in the absence of the Department Manager
  • Adhere to Food Safety Procedures
  • Handle conflicts effectively
  • Perform additional duties as assigned
Key Requirements
  • Must be 18+ years old
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Culinary, Restaurant, or Hospitality degree preferred
  • At least 1 year of restaurant experience
  • Professional communication skills across management levels
  • Self-motivated and problem-solving abilities
  • Physical ability to stand for long periods and lift/move heavy items
  • Ability to work in cold environments briefly
  • Basic math and computer skills (Word, Excel, Email)
  • Maintain Certified Food Safety Manager certification
  • Bilingual in English/Spanish is a plus
  • Flexible with hours, including weekends and holidays
  • Open to coaching and teamwork
