Job description

As a growing, mission-focused, and future-oriented association of YMCAs, the Metro YMCA of the Oranges has an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated, mission-driven, candidate to join our team.

This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. Under the direction and in conjunction with the Facility Director, the Assistant Facility Manager assist in the supervision of staff, maintenance, housekeeping and repairs of all buildings, grounds, equipment, formulation of annual budget and project budgets. Must be able to work independently on long-term projects with basic skills in operating heavy equipment, plumbing, electricity, landscaping, carpentry, mechanical repairs and masonry.

  • Minimum High School Diploma
  • Five Years or more of related experience preferred with basic skills in Plumbing, Electrical, Landscaping, Carpentry, Mechanical and Masonry
  • 1-3 years experience in supervision and fiscal management
  • Understanding of NJ Department of Health Standards
  • Ability to read and interpret instructions, procedures, manuals, and other documents.
  • Ability to report and record maintenance requests.
  • Ability to safely operate heavy equipment
  • Knowledge of general maintenance, housekeeping, repairs, grounds keeping, and equipment.
  • Basic understanding of the upkeep and care of equipment.
  • Understanding of cleaning compounds and chemicals, and their safe, efficient use.
