Job Description

The Assistant Executive Housekeeper at Hyatt Regency O'Hare Chicago will be responsible for assisting in managing the Housekeeping functions and staff on a daily basis to ensure property guest rooms, public space, and team member areas are clean and well maintained. This person will inspect areas of responsibilities and follow up with a plan for improving results. Furthermore, this role directs and works with the team to successfully execute all housekeeping operations, striving to continually improve guest and team member satisfaction and maximize the financial performance of the department. The ideal candidate for this role would be highly detail oriented and meticulous with a strong ability to connect and engage with team members and guests alike.

Responsibilities:
  1. Ensure compliance with all housekeeping policies, standards, and procedures.
  2. Understand the importance of department’s operation on overall property operations.
  3. Review staffing levels to ensure the guest housekeeping, operational needs, and financial objectives are met.
  4. Obtain list of rooms to be cleaned immediately and list of prospective check-outs or discharges to prepare work assignments.
  5. Inventory stock to ensure adequate supplies.
  6. Supervise an effective inspection program for all guestrooms and public space.
  7. Ensure all team members have proper supplies, equipment, and uniforms.
  8. Communicate areas that need attention and follow up to ensure completion.
  9. Participate in departmental meetings and continually communicate a clear and consistent message regarding the departmental goals to produce desired results.
  10. Utilize available on the job training tools to train new room attendants and provide follow-up training as needed.
  11. Establish and maintain open, collaborative relationships with team members.
  12. Schedule team members to business demands and track team member time and attendance.
  13. Ensure property policies are administered fairly and consistently, disciplinary procedures and documentation are completed according to policy.
  14. Observe behaviors of team members and provide feedback to individuals.
  15. Ensure team member recognition is taking place.
  16. Participate in interviewing and hiring of team members with the appropriate skills.
  17. Empower team members to provide excellent customer housekeeping.
  18. Emphasize guest satisfaction and focus on continuous improvement.
  19. Respond to and handle guest problems and complaints.
Requirements:
  1. High school degree (or equivalency) with Hotel or College training preferred.
  2. A minimum of 3 years housekeeping supervisor experience in a full housekeeping hotel.
  3. A strong understanding of operational controls, budgeting, forecasting, and scheduling.
  4. Strong oral and written communication skills.
  5. Experience working in a labor organized environment preferred.
  6. Organizational skills and attention to detail.
  7. Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office and customer management platforms.
  8. Excellent time management.
  9. Ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment.
  10. Strong leadership and communication skills.
  11. An aptitude for self-motivation.
  12. A can-do attitude and a hands-on approach.
  13. A flexible schedule that allows availability days, nights, holidays, and weekends based on the demands of the hotel.
