Job summary

Burns & McDonnell is seeking an Assistant Construction Manager to support the Construction Project Manager and EPC Project Manager across diverse industries from aviation to water. The role emphasizes safety, quality, schedule and cost control, along with subcontractor coordination and documentation.

The candidate will assist in planning, risk reviews, procurement, RFPs, change orders, and turnover activities. Strong communication, organizational, and analytical skills are essential for success.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Construction, Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field and 3 years relevant construction experience required.
• Applicable experience may be substituted for the degree requirement.
• Excellent computer skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint and Access).
• Experience with document control, scheduling, cost control and project management software is preferred.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills and strong organizational skills.
• Strong analytical and problem solving skills, and attention to detail.
• Ability to handle large volumes of work and multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
• Multiple years of experience on construction project sites or executing program management in diverse industries is preferred.
• A basic understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.
• Must be able to meet the company's driving requirements.

Responsibilities

• Assist in day-to-day management of project safety, quality, schedule, and cost control.
• Interface with client for proposals and project-related items.
• Develop and implement project plans, QA/Health/Safety/Procurement plans.
• Assist in contract negotiations and change orders.
• Support project cost reporting, scheduling, and progress tracking.
• Prepare project status reports and meeting minutes for stakeholders.
• Ensure compliance with project documents, insurance, and licenses.
