Job summary

GAI Consultants Inc. is seeking an Assistant Environmental Specialist 3 to support the Wisconsin Environmental Team.

The role involves reviewing environmental resources for energy projects, handling permitting tasks, and coordinating construction compliance both in the office and in the field. Work arrangements include remote, in-office, or hybrid options, with approximately 50% field work in southern Wisconsin and related travel.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Natural Resource Ecology, Engineering, Biology, or Environmental Science; advanced degree a plus.
• 3-4 years of experience commensurate with environmental consulting practices with a background in environmental science, ecology, or construction inspection services.
• Work is 50% field-based and 50% office-based; willingness to work flexible hours and overtime.
• Advanced technical writing ability; strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
• Travel within Southern Wisconsin; extended field assignments likely; base in remote home office with field work in Wisconsin.
• Knowledge of GPS tools and ability to write reports and regulatory documents.

Responsibilities

• Complete construction inspections, erosion control monitoring, and environmental marking and staking.
• Assist with field data collection and wetland delineations.
• Learn regulatory requirements and complete basic regulatory agency applications.
• Receive technical training for career enhancement.
• Other duties as assigned.
