Job summary

GAI Consultants, Inc. is seeking an Assistant Environmental Specialist 2 to support ecological studies for electric transmission and energy projects. The role reports to the Homestead, PA office and involves field assessments, documentation, and permitting document production.

You will conduct environmental surveys, collect data, and assist with siting investigations while traveling as needed. This position requires strong reporting skills and the ability to meet project deadlines.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor or Master degree in Biology, Environmental Science, or related field.
  • 2–3 years of environmental field survey experience in OH/PA/WV or surrounding states; electric transmission experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of US Army Corps of Engineers Wetland Delineation Manual and regional supplements; wetland delineation training preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with environmental field surveys including wetlands, streams, endangered species surveys, inspections and monitoring.
  • Collect data using handheld GPS and field equipment.
  • Prepare permit applications and associated environmental reports.
  • Assist with transmission line siting investigations and documentation.
  • Work independently or as part of a team to meet project deadlines.
