Job summary

Maryland Department of Transportation’s State Highway Administration in Baltimore is recruiting an Assistant Division Chief (Administrator VI) to oversee federal grant programs and professional staff. The role requires coordinating project delivery and FHWA compliance with LPAs.

The ADC will manage program manuals, lead training, and oversee project agreements, kickoff meetings, and invoicing, with a focus on transportation programs and safety initiatives.

Qualifications

• Six years of experience in administrative staff or professional work.
• Three years interpreting and applying state and federal transportation regulations and three years managing a program or project with supervision of employees.

Responsibilities

• Oversee permanent professional staff and coordinate federal grant programs (TA, SRTS, RTP, SB) and related activities.
• Coordinate with FHWA and LPAs, develop and update program manuals per FHWA requirements, organize training for LPAs.
• Prepare project agreements, organize kickoff meetings, and review/ process project invoices and closeouts.
• Support statewide bicycle and pedestrian planning efforts and coordinate with FHWA for metropolitan areas.
