Job summary

The University of Bridgeport is seeking a Part-Time Diving Coach to support the Head Men’s and Women’s Swimming & Diving Coach in NCAA Division II program. You will coach, develop student-athletes, recruit, and help maintain a positive, competitive team culture.

Responsibilities include designing training plans, video analysis, meet preparation, travel support, and ensuring compliance with NCAA, conference, and University policies while promoting academic success and leadership among divers.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent; advanced degree preferred.
  • CPR/AED certification.
  • Coaching and/or participation at collegiate level preferred; teaching/diving skills.

  • Coach/divers in springboard 1M & 3M events; daily practices and competition.
  • Design training plans emphasizing technique, safety and performance.

  • Foster academic success, sportsmanship, leadership, and personal development.

Position Description Summary/Purpose :

The Part-Time Diving Coach assists the Head Men's and Women's Swimming & Diving Coach in all aspects of the University's NCAADivision II diving program. Responsibilities include coaching,student-athlete development, recruiting, and supporting a positive,competitive team culture while ensuring compliance with NCAA,conference, and University policies.

Essential Job Functions/Primary Responsibilities :

  • Represent the University of Bridgeport and the AthleticDepartment in a positive manner with a high degree of integrity andquality.
  • Promote and support the University of Bridgeport and itsmission.
  • Promote and support the University of Bridgeport AthleticDepartment’s program mission and goals.
  • Adheres to and enforces all policies and procedures of thedepartment and the University, as well as the rules and regulationsof the NCAA, NE10 and any other authorities that affect theintercollegiate athletic program
  • Coach and develop NCAA Division II divers in springboard 1M& 3M events through daily practices and competition.
  • Design and implement training plans emphasizing technical skilldevelopment, safety, and performance improvement.
  • Provide individualized instruction, video analysis, and meetpreparation.
  • Recruit and evaluate prospective student-athletes who alignwith the University's academic and athletic standards.
  • Assist with travel, meet management, equipment maintenance, andother program operations.
  • Foster academic success, sportsmanship, leadership, andpersonal development among student-athletes.
  • Maintain compliance with all NCAA Division II, conference, andUniversity rules and regulations.
  • Collaborate with the Head Coach to support the overall successof the men's and women's swimming and diving program.
Other Functions
  • Performs similar or related work as required, directed or assituation dictates.
  • Continues professional development and training; keeps currentwith trends.
  • Assists other department staff as needed to promote a teameffort.
Knowledge, Ability and Skill :
  • Demonstrated commitment to developing and fostering bestpractices and policies to promote diversity, equity, and inclusion,and build an environment in which all members of the Universitycommunity are treated with respect and dignity.
  • Experience in collegiate diving
Qualifications
Minimum Required Qualifications :

Education, Training and Experience :

The qualifications required would generally be acquired with or anyequivalent combination of education, work experience andtraining.

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent; advanced degreepreferred;
  • CPR/AED certification;
  • College participation and/or coaching preferred
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
  • Coaching and /or participation at collegiate level preferred;demonstrated ability and passion to teach and demonstrate skills indiving:
  • Ability to work weekdays, evenings and weekends;
  • Candidate must have a valid driver’s license and meet University of Bridgeport’s DrivingRequirements;
  • Willingness to fundraise;
  • Ability to interact with all levels of the universitycommunity.
