Job summary

LVI Associates is seeking an Assistant Director of Environmental Services in Sussex County, Delaware to lead operation, maintenance, and regulatory compliance of water and wastewater facilities. This role combines technical expertise, staff supervision, and capital project support.

The successful candidate will coordinate with federal, state, and local agencies, prepare permits, manage budgets, and oversee safety and asset management. Strong leadership and communication are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Environmental Science, or related field.
• 7–8 years in water/wastewater operations or related infrastructure.
• Strong knowledge of treatment processes, transmission systems, sludge handling.
• Experience with environmental permitting and NPDES/air permits.
• Supervisory experience: planning, assigning, evaluating staff.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and schedule staff, perform evaluations and growth development.
• Oversee operation, maintenance, and regulatory compliance of treatment facilities.
• Coordinate with regulatory agencies on permits, inspections, and reporting.
• Prepare and renew NPDES, Land Treatment System, and Air Pollution permits.
• Review monitoring reports and respond to violations.
• Support asset management, GIS tracking, procurement, and work orders.
