Job summary

The State of Delaware, Division of Water, seeks an Engineer V to serve as the senior engineering authority for complex wastewater permitting and major infrastructure reviews. You will lead wastewater treatment and disposal initiatives and support permitting modernization with standards, guidance, and performance metrics while ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations.

Qualifications

  • Valid Delaware Professional Engineer license or license from another US/Canada authority.
  • Minimum five years of experience in Chemical, Civil, Environmental, Industrial or Mechanical Engineering.
  • Three years of engineering project management experience (planning, scheduling, staffing, coordinating, controlling, monitoring, evaluating and reporting).
  • One year experience in Environmental or Water Resource and Protection field.

Responsibilities

  • Drafts, develops and modifies engineering designs, plans and specifications.
  • Reviews permit applications and designs for compliance with specifications and regulations.
  • Applies scientific and mathematical principles to research and solve technical problems.
  • Plans and conducts field studies, surveys, and investigations to collect data and ensure conformance to laws and regulations.
  • Tests materials, equipment, systems and facilities.
  • Plans and coordinates engineering projects.
  • Reviews, analyzes and reports on project status and regulatory conformance.
  • Develops cost estimates for project time and materials.
  • Provides technical guidance and training to technical staff.
