Job summary

The City of Surprise, AZ seeks an Assistant Director of Transportation to lead a fast-growing, collaborative department. You will oversee streets, traffic engineering, TSMO, planning, and CIP projects while partnering with regional agencies to advance safe, sustainable mobility.

The ideal candidate holds a Bachelor's in Civil Engineering or Transportation Planning with five years of relevant experience, including three in management, and a valid Arizona driver’s license.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Transportation Planning or related field.
• Five years of related transportation experience including three years in progressively responsible management.
• Additional education cannot be substituted for experience.

Responsibilities

• Manage and supervise the Transportation Department divisions (streets, traffic engineering, TSMO, planning, business administration).
• Plan, develop, program, budget, design, and direct transportation plans and capital improvement projects.
• Assist the Director in leadership across transportation planning, strategic planning, programs, and emergency/incident response.
