Job Description Summary
The Assistant Director, Student Conduct is an educator responsiblefor the implementation of a comprehensive learning-focused,procedurally-sound administration of the Undergraduate Student Codeof Conduct and directs educational programs and interventions forstudents. The Assistant Director proactively contributes to theeducational development of students by fostering an understandingand commitment to the rights and responsibilities of students inthe larger University community in the spirit of the prohumanitate.

Essential Functions
- Directs a comprehensive educational student conduct system,including, but not limited to, conducting training, caseassignments, investigations, the consistent and fair application ofstandards, outcome development, and outcome compliance.
- Utilize student development theory and practice in the studentconduct process. Counsel students on an individual or group basisregarding behavioral, academic, substance abuse, safety, andemotional issues.
- Initiate referrals when appropriate to proper resource agencieson campus including Title IX, University Counseling, SAFE Office,and more.
- Serves as a hearing officer for alleged violations of theUniversity’s Student Code of Conduct.
- Manages alternative case resolution processes (e.g. conflictresolution, facilitated dialogues, mediations, and restorativejustice), supportive measures, and adjudicative processes.
- Serves as a neutral and impartial administrative investigatorwho independently plans, conducts, and documents investigationsconcerning complaints of violations of the Code of Conduct.
- Conduct investigations involving students, studentorganizations, clubs, and third parties.
- Assists with the development of policies, procedures, andpractices.
- Serves as an office liaison to Residence Life and Housing, WakeForest University Police Department, Title IX, and other officesfor student complaints, incident reports, investigations, andresolutions.
- Recruits, trains, advises, mentors, and evaluates members ofStudent Conduct Advisors, Hearing Panels, Honors and EthicsCouncil, and Judicial Council.
- Collaborates with and trains Residence Life and Housing ConductOfficers to adjudicate violations of Residence Life policies andthe Code of Conduct.
- Manages all aspects of the Student Conduct Advisor program,including but not limited to recruitment, training, advisement,promotion, and evaluation.
- Manages and supervises graduate student employees, includingtheir caseloads, investigations, and adjudications.
- Manages information technology needs as they relate to StudentConduct, including but not limited to website, student conductsoftware), and related portals.
- Maintains the confidentiality of student records and studentconduct files in accordance with the University, state and federalregulations.
- Provides quantitative and qualitative information forassessment and compliance throughout the year.
- Facilitates campus-wide programming to encourage belonging,mattering, thriving, respect, and accountability, while bringingawareness to the work of the Student Conduct and Office of the Deanof Students.
- Complete the required training to be classified as a CampusSecurity Authority under the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of CampusSecurity Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act (Clery Act).
- Serves as a member of Alcohol and Other Drug Coalition onAlcohol, Drugs, and Student Health, as well as additionalcommittees, as needed.
- Works collaboratively with members of Campus Life and othermembers of the University community to support the integration ofthe mission of the Division of Campus Life and the achievement ofshort- and long-term goals and objectives that are aligned with thegoals of Office of the Dean of Students and the University.
- Maintains a high degree of professionalism and serves as a positive role model to staff and students.

- Fulfills additional responsibilities as warranted by studentneeds and organizational priorities.
- Assist the Associate Dean with assessment projects within theUnit and assists with the development of statistical andinformational reports as requested.
Required Education, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
- Master’s degree in student personnel, higher education,counseling, organizational behavior, or a related field from a regionally accredited institution.
- Minimum of three years professional, full-time, progressivelyresponsible, work experience. Two years as a graduate assistant isequivalent to one year of professional experience.
- Experience in student conduct, residence life and housing, orfraternity and sorority life.
- Must demonstrate successful experience in reviewing complaints,conducting intake meetings, consulting with key partners,interviewing involved parties, and resolving cases, either throughinformal or formal mechanisms.
- Success developing and maintaining effective workingrelationships with students, faculty, staff, administrators, andother relevant stakeholders.
- Demonstrated knowledge of community programming, leadershipdevelopment, conflict resolution, and legal issues in highereducation.
- Excellent written communication skills.
- Exceptional public speaking and facilitation skills withindividuals and groups.
Preferred Education, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
- Three or more years of full-time student conduct, compliance,or similar work experience in a post-secondary setting.
- Demonstrated knowledge of legal issues common in highereducation and conduct, such as due process, fundamental fairness,higher education law, diversity and inclusion, Title IX, ViolenceAgainst Women Act, Clery Act, other applicable civil rights lawsand regulations and state laws.
- Demonstrated knowledge of Student development theory andpractice such as student welfare, safety and security, culturalcompetence, ethical development, social identity development,leadership development, community building, social justice,restorative justice, conflict resolution theory, motivationalinterviewing, and related theories of human motivation, change, anddevelopment.
- Experience facilitating assessment of program and learningoutcomes.
- Experience facilitating alternative resolutions.
