Job summary

Boston Public Schools seeks an exceptional Assistant Director of Compliance for Special Education. The role leads compliance efforts, supports professional development across district staff, and provides technical assistance on complex regulatory matters.

Reporting to the Deputy Chief of Services and Accountability, you will collaborate with OSS leaders and multiple departments to ensure equitable, compliant services for students with disabilities throughout the district.

Qualifications

• Master’s Degree required.
• MA DESE or Board licensure in Special Education or Related Field.
• MA DESE licensure in Supervision or Administration.
• Three (3) years experience teaching or providing services in urban special education or related field.
• Experience providing leadership and supervision in urban special education or related field.
• Knowledge of special education regulations and best practices.
• Authorization to work in the United States by first day of employment.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership for Compliance.
• Support professional development for coordinators, COSE clerks, teachers, paraprofessionals, and staff.
• Provide Technical Assistance on compliance related matters to schools and staff.
• Develop guidance documents for the district; disseminate compliance data reports to regional ADs and superintendents, school leaders, and OSS.
• Collaborates across departments and schools to ensure special education services are provided in unique circumstances.
• Manages LEA assignments and contracts for compensatory services.

Education

Master’s Degree in a related field

MA DESE or Board of Registration Licensure in Special Education or Related Field

MA DESE Licensure in Supervision or Administration

Three (3) years experience teaching or providing services in urban special education or related field

Experience providing leadership and supervision in urban special education or related field

Demonstrated knowledge of special education regulations and best practices

Current authorization to work in the United States
