Job summary

Boston Public Schools is seeking a Senior Director of Related Services to provide strategic leadership within the Office of Specialized Services (OSS). This executive will guide service delivery for thousands of students with disabilities, shape district-wide strategies, and advance inclusive education across the urban district.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree or higher in Special Education, Related Services field, Educational Leadership, or a related discipline.
• Certified Special Education Administrator credential.
• Significant leadership experience in urban education systems.
• Demonstrated expertise in managing large teams and complex organizational systems.
• Strong background in project management, strategic planning, and data-driven decision-making.
• Deep knowledge of IDEA, service delivery models, and inclusive practices.

Responsibilities

• Strategic Leadership & District Alignment: Provide overall leadership and direction for the OSS Related Services department.
• Partner with OSS senior leadership to design and implement district-wide strategies that improve service delivery and student outcomes.
• Lead long-range planning aligned to the BPS Inclusive Education Plan, ensuring access, participation, and progress for students with disabilities.
• Organizational Management & Supervision: Oversee and support a team of four Division Supervisors, each responsible for supervising related service providers across the district.
• Data-Driven Resource Deployment: Develop, implement, and refine a data-informed staffing and resource allocation model.
• Culture, Climate, and Staff Engagement: Foster esprit de corps, promote positive working conditions, and support staff retention and collaboration.
• Talent Management & Staffing: Oversee hiring, onboarding, and staffing processes in alignment with policy and bargaining agreements.
• Fiscal & Grant Management: Oversee large departmental budget and manage federal, state, and local grants to support related services.
• Project Management & Systems Implementation: Lead cross-functional projects and design scalable systems to improve efficiency, compliance, and service quality.
