Job summary

The Assistant Director of the Deerfield Fund at Trustees-of-Deerfield-Academy supports annual fundraising campaigns, creates written content for all communications, and directs reunion fundraising for the 30th, 35th and 40th classes.

Reporting to the Director, you will collaborate with leadership, alumni relations, and volunteers to develop initiatives, manage volunteers, monitor progress, and ensure data accuracy while traveling as needed and contributing to a supportive campus community.

Description

**SIGN-ON BONUS**

The successful candidate will receive a $1,000 sign-on bonus ($500 paid at time of hire and $500 paid at the end of 90 days of employment.

Reporting to the Director of the Deerfield Fund, the Assistant Director is a core member of the Deerfield Fund team assisting in the implementation of annual fundraising campaigns and appeals.to help reach yearly Deerfield Fund goals. The Assistant Director is the primary creator of written content for all Deerfield Fund communications. The Assistant Director manages the 30th, 35th and 40th class reunion fundraising and volunteer efforts.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with Deerfield Fund leadership and Communications to create original written content for the Deerfield Fund including mailed and digital appeals, donor stewardship items, volunteer communications etc. for a variety of target audiences.
  • Strategize with members of the Deerfield Fund team to create and implement yearly fundraising initiatives such as Day of Giving, phonathons, etc. utilizing tools including Hustle, ThankView, and GiveCampus to engage and solicit alumni
  • Direct all aspects of Reunion fundraising for the 30th, 35th and 40th reunion classes, including goal setting; recruitment, training and management of alumni volunteers; solicitation of annual, capital and planned gifts; in close collaboration with Leadership Gifts colleagues
  • Collaborate closely with Alumni Relations on 30th, 35th and 40th reunion programing
  • Manage a portfolio of prospects (including those at the leadership level); cultivate and solicit through in-person meetings
  • Track and report on prospect activity; update contact and biographical information accurately and on a timely basis
  • Participate in weekend and evening activities on campus, in any assigned geographic region and other Advancement organized events

Job Specifications

  • 3-5 years in Advancement or similar related work experience required
  • Demonstrated proficiency in crafting original written communications for varied audiences
  • Excellent verbal communication and organizational skills
  • Ability to manage and motivate volunteers
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Demonstrated commitment to diversity and inclusion and to serving the needs of a diverse community
  • Ability and willingness to travel, up to 15 days per year
  • Ability to manage, and sensitivity to, highly confidential information
  • A high level of integrity and a strong work ethic
  • Skilled with MS Office Suite and familiarity with integrated databases

Physical Job Demands

  • Close visual acuity to analyze data and figures and to view a computer terminal
  • Ability to sustain substantial movements of the wrist, hands and/or fingers
  • Ability to occasionally lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects up to 10 lbs.
  • Ability to occasionally stoop, kneel or reach

Working Conditions

The worker is in an office environment, and while in the office is not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions. While traveling (10% overnight travel on average each month), the worker is subject to outside environmental conditions.
