Job Summary:

The primary purpose of the Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON) position is to assist in the planning, organizing, developing, and directing the overall operation of our Nursing Department, in accordance with current federal, state, and local standards, guidelines, and regulations that govern our facility, and as may be directed by the Director of Nursing, Administrator, and the Medical Director, to ensure that the highest degree of quality care is maintained at all times.

Job Requirements:

• Must have a current and active LPN or RN license with the state of Wisconsin.
• Previous nurse supervisor experience.

Job Responsibilities:

• Assists in development and implementation of the Nursing Program.
• Meets and consults with the facility’s interdisciplinary team on a regular basis to develop and maintain restorative care standards.
• Ensures the nursing program complies with applicable laws, regulations, and national restorative nursing standards and requirements.
• Participates in the admission process by meeting with new Guests and providing them with a clear overview of the restorative program.
• Participates in discharge planning, development, and implementation of Guest care plans and assessments.
• Performs administrative tasks such as charting, care plans, reports, etc.
• Assists with the recruitment and selection of nursing staff.
• Provides supervision to C.N.A’s and all subordinate staff, which includes checking their work to ascertain that assignments have been completed.
• Completes annual performance reviews of all subordinate staff.
• Provides guidance and education to staff regarding their performance.
• Provides counseling and disciplinary action to subordinate staff members as needed.
• Assists with and participates in the disciplinary process of subordinates.
• Performs nursing care assignments by working the floor when needed.
• Only practices nursing procedures and tasks within the scope of licensure.
• Ensures that resident care plans are being followed and assesses each Guest’s status in accordance with their care plan.
• Rounds with physicians when needed.
• Must be knowledgeable of individual care plans and support the care planning process by reporting specific information and observations of the Guest’s needs, preferences, and any behavioral changes.
• Assures that established infection control and standard precaution practices are maintained when providing care and follows established safety precautions when performing tasks and using equipment and supplies.
• Maintains the comfort, privacy, and dignity of Guests, interacting with them in a warm, respectful, and caring environment.
• Answers and responds to call lights promptly and courteously.
• Attends and participates in departmental meetings and in-services.
• Be knowledgeable in data collection, data analysis methodology, and performance improvement methods needed to support and lead performance improvement projects.
• Identifies opportunities for improvement through analysis of data, observation of operations, and consultation with leadership and staff.
