Job summary

Civic Center Health and Rehabilitation is seeking an Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON) – RN to support the Director of Nursing in daily clinical operations at our Birmingham facility. This leadership role supervises nursing staff, ensures regulatory compliance, and promotes high-quality, resident-centered care.

The ADON will mentor staff, oversee care plan implementation, and lead quality initiatives, with opportunities to serve as acting DON.

Qualifications

• Current RN license in the state of Alabama.
• At least two years of nursing experience.
• Prior long-term care or skilled nursing experience preferred.
• Prior supervisory or leadership experience strongly preferred.
• Strong clinical assessment and organizational skills.
• Ability to lead a team with professionalism and compassion.
• Excellent communication skills with staff, residents, and families.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Director of Nursing in overseeing daily clinical operations
• Supervise, guide, and support nurses and nursing assistants
• Ensure care plans are implemented and updated appropriately
• Monitor resident conditions and communicate changes to physicians and families
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and company regulations
• Participate in audits, quality assurance, and infection control initiatives
• Assist with admissions, discharges, and overall clinical workflow
• Support staffing coordination and scheduling needs
• Mentor and develop nursing staff to strengthen the clinical team
• Serve as acting DON in the absence of the Director of Nursing
