Job summary

Western Slope Healthcare Center is looking for an Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON) to lead nursing services 24/7 and support licensed nurses and aides. You will assist with recruitment, onboarding, training, coaching, and performance management while ensuring safe, compassionate, high-quality resident care.

The role requires a BSN preferred and a California nursing license in good standing, with 3–5 years of nursing management experience in long-term care.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing; BSN preferred.
  • California RN license in good standing.
  • 3–5 years nursing management experience in skilled nursing or long-term care.
  • Strong leadership, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office; PCC (PointClickCare) preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Director of Nursing in planning, organizing, and supervising nursing services 24/7.
  • Provide leadership and support to licensed nurses and nursing assistants.
  • Assist with recruiting, hiring, onboarding, training, coaching, and mentoring staff.
  • Participate in evaluations, performance improvement, and disciplinary processes.
  • Serve as clinical leader and backup to the Director of Nursing when needed.
  • Conduct daily clinical rounds and monitor resident conditions.
  • Ensure high-quality, compassionate care while protecting residents' dignity and rights.
  • Collaborate with physicians, residents, families, and interdisciplinary team members.
  • Contribute to policy development, implementation, and QA initiatives.
  • Coordinate nursing in-services and staff education.
  • Maintain regulatory compliance with federal/state/local requirements.

What You'll Do
  • Assist the Director of Nursing in planning, organizing, and supervising nursing services 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
  • Provide leadership and support to licensed nurses and nursing assistants.

  • Stay informed of regulatory changes and communicate updates to the nursing team.
  • Provide direct resident care when necessary.
What We're Looking For
  • Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing BSN preferred
  • Current California nursing license in good standing
  • 3–5 years of nursing management experience, preferably in a skilled nursing or long-term care setting
  • Strong leadership, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills
  • Experience with Microsoft Office required
  • PCC (PointClickCare) experience preferred
  • Ability to lead by example while fostering a positive and accountable work environment
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, and move throughout the facility
  • Occasionally lift or move up to 25 pounds
  • Ability to use computers and standard office equipment
  • Travel may occasionally be required
