Job summary

San Bruno Skilled Nursing is seeking an experienced Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON) to support the Director of Nursing in overseeing resident care. This leadership role focuses on nursing operations, staff development, regulatory compliance, and clinical excellence within our skilled nursing facility.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing.
  • California RN license in good standing.
  • 3–5 years of nursing management experience, preferably in skilled nursing or long-term care setting.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office; PCC experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the DON with planning, organizing, and supervising nursing department activities.
  • Support development, implementation, and evaluation of nursing policies and clinical programs.
  • Recruiting, hiring, onboarding, training, and retaining nursing staff.
  • Conduct employee evaluations, coaching, and corrective action when necessary.
  • Provide direct resident care as needed to support clinical operations.
  • Lead daily rounds to monitor resident conditions and ensure quality care standards.
  • Collaborate with physicians, residents, families, and interdisciplinary teams to coordinate care.
  • Prepare reports and provide recommendations regarding nursing services and improvements.

San Bruno Skilled Nursing is seeking an experienced and compassionate Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON) to support our Director of Nursing in overseeing the delivery of high-quality resident care. This leadership role is responsible for assisting with the management of nursing operations, staff development, regulatory compliance, and clinical excellence within our skilled nursing facility.

Essential Responsibilities
  • Assist the Director of Nursing (DON) with planning, organizing, and supervising nursing department activities.
  • Support the development, implementation, and evaluation of nursing policies, procedures, and clinical programs.
  • Participate in recruiting, hiring, onboarding, training, and retaining nursing staff.
  • Assist with employee evaluations, coaching, performance management, and corrective action when necessary.
  • Serve as a resource and backup to the DON, RN, and LVN teams.
  • Provide direct resident care as needed to support clinical operations.
  • Conduct daily rounds to monitor resident conditions and ensure quality care standards are met.
  • Promote resident safety, dignity, rights, and overall well-being.
  • Collaborate with physicians, residents, families, and interdisciplinary team members to coordinate care.
  • Attend and lead nursing department meetings in the absence of the DON.
  • Prepare reports and provide recommendations regarding nursing services and operational improvements.
  • Assist with the design and implementation of systems that support consistent, resident-centered care.
  • Coordinate and facilitate ongoing staff education and in-service training programs.
  • Maintain confidentiality regarding resident, employee, and facility information.
  • Stay current with federal, state, and local regulations and communicate updates to staff as needed.
Qualifications
  • Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing.
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
  • Current and unrestricted California RN license in good standing.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of nursing management experience, preferably in a skilled nursing or long-term care setting.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Knowledge of state and federal regulations governing skilled nursing facilities.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications; PCC experience preferred.
  • Must maintain required continuing education and licensure requirements.

  • Experience managing multidisciplinary teams and clinical operations.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with residents, families, physicians, and staff.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to stand, walk, sit, bend, and perform nursing duties throughout the workday.
  • Ability to occasionally lift or move up to 25 pounds.
  • Frequent use of computers, telephones, and office equipment.
  • Occasional travel may be required.
