San Bruno Skilled Nursing is seeking an experienced Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON) to back up the Director of Nursing and oversee nursing operations with a focus on quality resident care. Responsibilities include staff development, policy implementation, compliance, and coordination with physicians and families.

The role supports the DON, requires nursing leadership experience, and may include direct resident care as needed to maintain clinical excellence within our facility in San Bruno,

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing.
  • California RN license in good standing.
  • 3–5 years nursing management experience in skilled nursing or long-term care.
  • Strong leadership and communication abilities; excellent organizational skills.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the DON with planning, organizing, and supervising nursing department activities.
  • Support development, implementation, and evaluation of nursing policies and programs.
  • Participate in recruiting, onboarding, training, and retention of nursing staff.
  • Conduct evaluations, coaching, and performance management when needed.
  • Provide direct resident care as needed to support clinical operations.
  • Coordinate with physicians, residents, families, and the care team to ensure quality care.

This leadership role is responsible for assisting with the management of nursing operations, staff development, regulatory compliance, and clinical excellence within our skilled nursing facility.Essential ResponsibilitiesAssist the Director of Nursing (DON) with planning, organizing, and supervising nursing department activities.Support the development, implementation, and evaluation of nursing policies, procedures, and clinical programs.Participate in recruiting, hiring, onboarding, training, and retaining nursing staff.Assist with employee evaluations, coaching, performance management, and corrective action when necessary.Serve as a resource and backup to the DON, RN, and LVN teams.Provide direct resident care as needed to support clinical operations.Conduct daily rounds to monitor resident conditions and ensure quality care standards are met.Promote resident safety, dignity, rights, and overall well-being.Collaborate with physicians, residents, families, and interdisciplinary team members to coordinate care.Attend and lead nursing department meetings in the absence of the DON.Prepare reports and provide recommendations regarding nursing services and operational improvements.Assist with the design and implementation of systems that support consistent, resident-centered care.Coordinate and facilitate ongoing staff education and in-service training programs.Maintain confidentiality regarding resident, employee, and facility information.Stay current with federal, state, and local regulations and communicate updates to staff as needed.QualificationsGraduate of an accredited School of Nursing.Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.Current and unrestricted California RN license in good standing.Minimum of 3-5 years of nursing management experience, preferably in a skilled nursing or long-term care setting.Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.Knowledge of state and federal regulations governing skilled nursing facilities.Proficient in Microsoft Office applications; PCC experience preferred.Must maintain required continuing education and licensure requirements.Preferred SkillsAbility to analyze and interpret healthcare regulations, reports, and policies.Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.Experience managing multidisciplinary teams and clinical operations.Ability to effectively communicate with residents, families, physicians, and staff.Physical RequirementsAbility to stand, walk, sit, bend, and perform nursing duties throughout the workday.Ability to occasionally lift or move up to 25 pounds.Frequent use of computers, telephones, and office equipment.Occasional travel may be required.BenefitsCompetitive salary: $100,000-$115,000 annuallyMedical, Dental & Vision Insurance401(k) Retirement PlanPaid Time Off (PTO)Paid Sick LeavePaid HolidaysEmployee Assistance Program (EAP)Continuing Education & Professional Development OpportunitiesSupportive Leadership TeamCareer Growth OpportunitiesApply today and become part of a dedicated team committed to providing exceptional care and improving the lives of our residents at San Bruno Skilled Nursing.We are an equal opportunity employer.
