Job summary

Pasadena City College is seeking an Assistant Director of Human Resources to provide operational leadership for the HR department and supervise HRBPs, HR Assistants, and Student Employment Technicians.

The role focuses on employee and labor relations, compliance, investigations, and HRIS-driven analytics, partnering with the HR team to drive improvement and ensure high-quality service district-wide.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree is required.
• Four (4) years of progressively responsible HR experience.
• One (1) year in a supervisory or lead capacity overseeing HR staff or functions.

Responsibilities

• Supervises HR Business Partners and HR Assistants; assigns workload, conducts performance evaluations, and ensures equitable service district-wide.
• Manages day-to-day HR operations including recruitment, onboarding, personnel records, position control, and HRIS ensuring compliance with laws and policies.
• Partners with the HR Business Analyst to identify, assess, and prioritize HRIS needs and collaborate on system projects and process improvements.
• Performs HR system audits, prepares findings, and recommends improvements to enhance performance.
• Maintains data integrity in position control and approves personnel actions and salary adjustments.
• Develops and maintains standardized HR procedures, tools, and templates; runs regular HR team meetings.
