Job summary

Highgate Hotels' Southernmost Beach Resort in Key West seeks an Assistant Director of Engineering to oversee maintenance, safety, and operations of all resort facilities. You will lead the engineering team, manage preventive programs, and ensure guest satisfaction while aligning with Highgate's standards.

You will coordinate capital projects, work with outside contractors, monitor life safety and HVAC systems, and help control budgets.

Qualifications

• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
• Frequent standing, walking, climbing ladders.
• Work in heat and humidity; South Florida conditions.
• Excellent communication with employees and guests.
• Maintain confidentiality and multitask effectively.
• Attend required meetings and provide MOD coverage.

Responsibilities

• Assist in leading and supervising the Engineering team, including scheduling, training, coaching, and performance management.
• Oversee daily maintenance and repair of guest rooms, public areas, pools, restaurants, employee housing, and back-of-house facilities.
• Ensure completion of preventive maintenance programs to maintain resort standards and equipment reliability.
• Monitor and troubleshoot HVAC, electrical, plumbing, refrigeration, and life safety systems.
• Support the maintenance, upkeep, inspections, and project work associated with employee housing properties.
• Support capital improvement projects and coordinate work performed by outside contractors and vendors.
• Ensure compliance with OSHA, fire safety, environmental, and company safety standards.
• Assist in managing departmental budgets, inventory, purchasing, and cost-control initiatives while responding promptly to guest and operational maintenance issues to ensure a safe and exceptional experience.
