Job Summary/Basic Function

Wheaton College is seeking a full-time Assistant Director. Recruit,advise and counsel prospective students/applicants to the Collegeand share recruitment activities, travel, interviews,presentations, and on-and off- campus programs with a recruitmentstaff of seven.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
  • Maintains responsibility for geographic territory includingoversight of inquiry and applicant statistics and trends; as wellas cultivating relationships with students, school counselors,community- based organizations, faculty, staff and alumni/ae.
  • Interviews, conducts group information sessions, and travels torepresent the College at high schools, community colleges, collegefairs, and other appropriate programs (this includes some eveningand weekend work in person and virtually). Anticipated annualtravel is approximately 8-10 weeks per year.
  • Member of an Admission team working on one or more of thefollowing programs both virtually and in person: StudentAmbassadors, Social Media coordinator, Special Events, Diversityinitiatives, International Recruitment, Transfer Initiatives,Athletics, Financial Aid Outreach, Alumni Admission programming,Print and Digital Marketing or other areas, as assigned.Responsibilities assigned based on availability as well ascandidate’s experience, interest, and capacity.
  • Review, manage, and evaluate applications from assignedgeographic territories, including follow up with prospectivestudents, applicants, guidance counselors and parents, asnecessary. This may require evening and weekend work.
  • Participate in organization and implementation of on-campusrecruitment activities (in person or virtual) including (but notlimited to) overnight programs, open houses, etc.
  • Assumes other responsibilities and related projects as assignedby the Director of Admission and/or Vice President of Enrollmentand Dean of Admission & Student Aid.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Possible supervision of some student workers, both paid andvolunteer.

  • High level of energy, personable nature, flexibility, and astrong work ethic with a “whatever it takes” attitude
  • Strong public speaking, interpersonal, organizational, andwritten skills as well as a commitment to selective, liberal artseducation.
  • Commitment to enrolling and retaining a diverse student body,as well as a passion for global education.
  • Ability to work creatively and efficiently, both independentlyand as part of a team; most travel for the college will becoordinated and executed individually.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects concurrently whilesatisfying expectations and deadlines.
  • Must be flexible, and highly motivated.
  • High level of technical skills; minimum skills to includeMicrosoft Office. The office uses Slate as its CRM .
INTERNAL / EXTERNAL CONTACTS
  • Internal contact with College Officers, faculty, staff andstudents. External contact with counselors, secondary schooladministrators, alumni, prospective students and parents.
Compensation and Benefits

When determining and establishing hiring rates or recruitmentranges for a position, the College considers a number of factorsincluding the budget for the position, the range of the grade, theexternal market for the position or similar positions, level andscope of responsibilities, required education, skills and relevantexperience as well as internal equity. All salary offers must havethe prior approval of the Office of Human Resources.

The anticipated hiring or recruitment range for thisposition is $48 – $50K. The actual salary offered will becommensurate with the qualifications, education and experience ofthe candidate hired.
