This position offers a unique opportunity to help shape and supportthe operational foundation of Utah Valley University's librarysystem. As the Assistant Director for Library Operations andTechnology, you will provide leadership and coordination across keyfunctional areas, including collections, technical services, archives, technology support, facilities operations, and emergencypreparedness. Working closely with department leaders and libraryadministration, you will play a critical role in implementingstrategic priorities, improving operational effectiveness, andensuring that library services and resources remain responsive tothe needs of students, faculty, staff, and the broader campuscommunity.

Summary of Responsibilities
- Operational Leadership and Department Support: Provideoperational leadership for assigned library departments responsiblefor collections, technical services, archives, technology support,and related operational functions. Work with and providesupervision and support to department leaders to clarifyoperational expectations, monitor departmental performance, supportaccountability, and maintain efficient, effective, andcustomer-focused library services. Represent the operationalperspectives and needs of assigned departments by providingoperational expertise and information during administrativeplanning and decision-making. Communicate approved librarypriorities, facilitate collaboration among operational departments,and coordinate consistent implementation of administrativedecisions.
- Operational Coordination, Communication, and ProjectImplementation: Coordinate implementation of library projects,operational improvements, and administrative initiatives acrossassigned departments. Work collaboratively with department leadersto improve workflows, strengthen coordination, resolve operationalissues, and support continuous improvement. Serve as a member ofthe library's administrative team by providing operationalexpertise, representing assigned departments, supportingimplementation of library priorities, and communicating operationalneeds to support administrative planning, coordination, andinformed decision-making. Coordinate communication and informationsharing among operational departments, represent the library onassigned committees, and collaborate with university departments tosupport effective library operations and services.
- Facilities, Safety, and Building Operations: Coordinatebuilding operations, facilities communication, accessibility,safety planning, and maintenance activities to help ensure thelibrary provides a safe, functional, accessible, and welcomingenvironment for students, employees, and visitors. Communicatefacilities needs with university partners, coordinate repairs andoperational improvements, and monitor building conditions tosupport effective library operations.
- Emergency Preparedness and Business Continuity: Maintain thelibrary's emergency response plan and ensure emergency proceduresremain current and aligned with university protocols. Coordinateemergency preparedness training, maintain emergency equipment andsupplies, collaborate with university public safety personnel, andserve as Building Marshal during emergency situations. Performother job related duties as assigned.
Qualifications / Licenses / Certifications
Graduation from an ALA-accredited institution with a Masterof Library Science degree (or equivalent) is required, and a minimum of three years of progressively responsible experience inacademic library management, including supervisory responsibilitiesin one or more of the following areas: acquisitions, technicalservices, archives, library technology, or related operationalfunctions.
