Qualifications

• BA or BS in communications, English, journalism, or related field
• Eight to ten years of progressively responsible experience in internal or corporate communications
• Exceptional writing, editing and editorial judgment for executive and employee audiences
• Experience managing multiple high-priority projects to meet tight deadlines
• Healthcare, academic medicine, or similarly complex org background preferred
• Journalism experience or newsroom-style writing, reporting, and editing
• Experience managing internal channels, editorial calendars, and governance
• Knowledge of enterprise platforms (SharePoint, Teams) and analytics
• Experience managing freelancers, vendors, or external partners
• Basic graphic design using Canva or Adobe Creative Suite

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute communication strategies supporting priorities and change management
• Advise leaders on messaging, audience, timing, and channels
• Plan for major initiatives to ensure readiness and integration
• Lead management of internal channels, publications, and editorial calendars
• Write and edit executive communications, updates, FAQs, talking points, newsletters
• Ensure communications reflect editorial judgment, clarity, and accessibility
• Establish governance, workflows, and publication processes
• Manage calendars, distribution, and schedules with leadership
• Coordinate freelancers and cross-functional projects for timely delivery
• Monitor engagement metrics and identify improvement opportunities
• Develop scalable templates and best practices for department infrastructure
• Serve as operational partner and backup to Director for selected duties
