Job summary

Carleton College invites applications for the Assistant Director of International Student Life. You will support international and domestic students, develop cultural programs, and oversee orientation and events.

This full-time role requires evening/weekend commitments and a focus on inclusive, global campus life. The incumbent will advise on housing, transportation, employment, taxes, and health, while ensuring SEVP compliance and collaboration with campus partners.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree required with minimum 2 years related experience with international students or marginalized populations.
• U.S. Citizenship or Permanent Residency required for SEVIS work.
• Experience supervising student workers and/or staff.
• Proven event planning and activities management from start to finish.
• Ability to manage multiple projects under deadlines.
• Clear written and spoken communication; proficient with PCs/databases.
• Respect for diverse backgrounds and inclusive environment.

Responsibilities

• Supervise student employees, including International Peer Leaders.
• Develop and manage cultural and social programs for diverse students.
• Assist with International Student Orientation and International Fest.
• Collaborate with student orgs and departments to promote global citizenship.
• Assess program efficacy and adjust to student needs.
• Provide cultural, personal, and regulatory advising, crisis support.
• Advise on housing, transportation, employment, taxes, health, banking, licenses.
• Support SEVP compliance, data maintenance, and document storage.
• Serve on college committees to advocate for international students.
• Maintain ISL website and social media accounts.
• Support UWC scholar program and grant reporting.
• Process reimbursements for Named International Scholars.
