Assistant Director for Transfer Admissions

Texas Lutheran University (TLU) is seeking an enthusiastic, student-focused professional to serve as Assistant Director for Transfer Admissions. This opportunity is a great fit for an admissions professional who enjoys building relationships, developing recruitment strategies, and helping students navigate the path to completing their college education.

Reporting to the Director for Undergraduate Admissions, the Assistant Director willlead TLU’s transfer recruitment and enrollment efforts for both fall and spring semesters. This position will serve as the primary point of contact for prospective transfer students and will play a key role in developing relationships with community colleges, advisors, students, and campus partners.

What You’ll Do:

As the Assistant Director for Transfer Admissions, you will:

  • Develop and implement a strategic recruitment plan designed to achieve TLU’s transfer enrollment goals.
  • Lead and own transfer recruitment and enrollment outcomes for both fall and spring terms.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with community colleges, advisors, and other transfer partners.
  • Serve as the primary resource for prospective transfer students, guiding them from inquiry through enrollment.
  • Advise students and families on academic programs, admission requirements, scholarships, financial aid, and transferability of coursework.
  • Recruit students through community college visits, college fairs, conferences, college nights, and other external events.
  • Lead spring enrollment efforts and collaborate with advising, financial aid, the registrar, and other campus partners to ensure a seamless enrollment experience.
  • Plan and execute campus recruitment events specifically designed to engage transfer students.
  • Review applicant credentials, including academic records, essays, test scores, and interviews, and make admission recommendations.
  • Facilitate campus visits and interviews for prospective students.
  • Partner with TLU’s Nursing program to recruit students, facilitate faculty application review, and support onboarding for students entering the traditional Bachelor of Science in Nursing program.
  • Deliver engaging presentations to prospective students in both small- and large-group settings.
  • Maintain timely and accurate communication with students, families, and campus partners.
  • Help resolve student and family concerns related to financial aid, scholarships, academic programs, admission credentials, campus living, and other enrollment matters.
  • Monitor competitive programs and enrollment trends and recommend strategies to strengthen TLU’s position in the market.
  • Coordinate special projects and other initiatives as assigned.

  • Experience with recruitment, enrollment management, or community college partnerships.

This position is primarily performed in an office setting, with some physical activity and lifting of approximately 25 pounds.Regular travel, including overnight travel, is required, and travel may occur for multiple weeks at a time during peak recruitment periods. Evening and weekend events are also an expected part of the position.
