Job summary

Columbia University Irving Medical Center seeks an Assistant Director to lead faculty development and instructional innovation. You will design programs, provide pedagogical consultations, and advance teaching and learning through evidence-based practices in a medical center environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required; 3–5 years of related experience preferred.
• Experience designing, facilitating, and evaluating faculty development programs.
• Strong consultation, interpersonal, and communication skills.
• Knowledge of evidence-based teaching practices in higher education.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement and assess programming for faculty that meets teaching needs and engages participants in reflective practice.
• Create teaching guides and online materials for CTL programs and services.
• Consult with faculty on course design, assessment and teaching effectiveness; conduct formative observations.
• Apply emerging instructional technologies and evolving standards in educational practice.
• Engage with teaching and learning literature and identify evidence-based practices to inform CTL work.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
