Job summary

Thames Valley Council for Community Action is seeking an Assistant Director to lead the Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation Child Development Center. The role covers supervision, budgeting, and daily operations, with collaboration across community agencies.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Early Education with emphasis in birth to five years; five years of related work experience, at least three supervisory.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Current driver’s license with good driving record and reliable vehicle.
• Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
• Strong mathematical skills.
• Strong organizational skills with problem solving and time management.
• Sensitivity to needs of different cultures and families.

Responsibilities

• Works with Director on oversight of daily, weekly, monthly obligations.
• Act as Director in absence.
• Supervise and evaluate management and teaching staff year-round.
• Provide strong team leadership and open communication.
• Make decisions as part of a team for daily operations and planning.
• Assist in annual program plans per operation standards.
• Coordinate contracts and leases for CDC operations.
• Establish communication with community agencies and schools as required.
• Develop staff through coaching, training and performance appraisals.
• Ensure internal communication at all levels of the program.
